Supreme Council of Ukraine has chosen a new speaker. Ruslan Stefanchuk, former First Vice-President, has been appointed Speaker of Parliament.
Stefanchu's candidacy was supported by 261 deputies. In August 2019, he was appointed First Vice-President of the Council.
Ruslan Stefanchuk was born in 1975 in Ternopil. He has a doctorate in jurisprudence, he has studied advocacy. Corresponding member of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine. Since 2019, he has been serving as an adviser to President Zelenský and representing him in parliament. The day before, the head of state had removed him from this post. On the eve of the Ukrainian parliament, the previous speaker, Dmitry Razumkov, was removed. He has been chairman since August 2019.
According to sources in parliament, Alexander Kornienko, the deputy head of the People's Servant faction, may be elected vice-chairman of the Council.
