The Russian Foreign Ministry has commented on the appeal influential US senators to President Joe Biden with a request to expel 300 Russian diplomats from the country if Moscow does not agree to the expansion of US embassy staff in Moscow.
“We will not even remind you that there are not so many Russian diplomats in Washington,” says the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The Foreign Ministry suggested that senators who do not have sufficient knowledge of international relations should also count Russian diplomatic staff working in a permanent mission to the UN.
At the same time, in Russia, the ministry emphasized that those proposing such steps were apparently seeking to conclude US missions abroad in Russia.
The Russian Foreign Ministry has entrusted the American side with responsibility for possible consequences.
