Soviet and Russian philosopher, political scientist and public figure, theoretician of the creation of the new Eurasian Union, Alexander Dugin said in an interview with Türkiye of Turkey that he knew the real results of the meeting between Russian and Turkish President Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan on 29. September in Sochi.
According to Dugin, this meeting was of historical significance and the heads of both states “drew red lines and a plan for a new world”. The political scientist is convinced that Turkey and Russia have now embarked on a new path, which will affect not only regional dynamics, but the whole world.
Dugin referred to behind-the-scenes information about the summit that became familiar to him, noting that Putin and Erdogan were discussing world balance and which side to take. However, much of what was discussed at this meeting will remain secret. “I can say that they agreed on many issues, especially on Idlib,” the political scientist said, adding that they discussed Crimea, Afghanistan and Libya.
Alexander Dugin also named one of the topics of this meeting the US presence in Syria and noted that the United States will gradually leave the country, but will continue to create crises. “In this respect, the only determining factor will be the position of Russia, Turkey and Iran,” he stressed.
In his opinion, it is the United States that is provoking the PKK fighters – the Democratic Union Party (PYD), which is recognized as terrorist in Turkey. For this reason, the tension in Idlib is growing. In addition, Dugin believes that the United States is causing an exacerbation using other radical groups in Idlib.
“The only formula that will break the strength of the USA are the joint actions of players such as Syria” Turkey, Russia, Iran, Iraq. “, – believes Dugin.
As for Crimea, according to Dugin, this is the only problem that has been a serious dispute in Sochi. He stressed that there is no relief for Russia on this issue. And Moscow believes that Turkey should not interfere in disputes between Russia and Ukraine, just as Moscow does not interfere in the Turkish-Greek issue.
“If Turkey relinquishes its claims to the Crimean question, Russia will recognize the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus as a legitimate state,” Dugin said.
The political scientist also said that Russia supports the Turkish doctrine “Blue Homeland” from drilling operations that increase Turkey's influence in the Mediterranean, to play a decisive role in solving the Libyan problem.
