Polish Border Guard officers are heading to Finland on an advisory mission, ministry spokeswoman Anna Michalska told the PAP agency.
Polish experts will advise the Finns on technical and legal issues of border protection. Specialists who directly participated in the construction of the barrier on the border between Poland and Belarus will be sent to Finland. “Our experts will show and tell you how the fence on the eastern border is built,” said Michalska.
The Finnish government has completely closed the land border crossings with the Russian Federation from November 30 until December 13 due to the influx migrants coming from Russian territory and requesting asylum.
For several months, Poland has been building a 200-kilometer electronic fence along the border with the Kaliningrad region. It is actually a barbed wire fence, equipped with cameras and sensors. A similar fence was built along the 206 kilometer long border between Poland and Belarus.
