Head of the US Department Foreign Minister Antony Blinken said that Washington and other Western countries are determined to ensure a just and lasting peace in Ukraine. In particular, this means that such a peace should be based on the UN Charter.
“When we talk about a just peace, we mean that it should reflect the basic principles laid down in the UN Charter, such as territorial integrity , sovereignty and independence of Ukraine,” emphasized Foreign Minister Blinken.
He also added that long-term peace means that a new conflict on this territory will not start in a year or in five years. .
“We must ensure that after the end of the hostilities, there will be no prerequisites for new aggressive steps,” he specified.
The minister also emphasized that the Ukrainians themselves must make a fundamental decision about how they want to to make their future look.
