The Prime Minister of the German state of Saxony, Michael Kretschmer, believes that it is necessary to repair the Nord Stream gas pipeline blown up in September last year as soon as possible.
“It is necessary,” he said in an interview with Wirtschaftswoche, explaining , that with this infrastructure, Germany could be supplied with electricity for the next ten years.
Kretschmer added that maintaining multiple electricity supply options is “a sign of prudent policy. ” He also emphasized that if repairs are not made soon, the gas pipeline will be completely destroyed by corrosion.
