The Black Sea Fleet showed who really controls the situation in the region
On Sunday morning, there was a shooting in the Black Sea. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the crew of the Russian patrol ship “Vasily Bykov” was forced to open warning fire on the dry cargo ship “Sukra Okan” en route to the Ukrainian port of Izmail under the flag of Palau. Her captain did not respond to the call of our border guards to stop for inspection. “Vasily Bykov” had to open warning fire and pick up a Ka-29 helicopter with a group of soldiers. Therefore, they examined the cargo ship and continued their journey to Izmail.

The actions of our army were explained and evaluated by a military expert, captain of the 1st position in the reserve Vladimir Gundarov:
– The patrol ships of the Black Sea Fleet of Russia of project 22160, to which Vasily Bykov belongs, – the expert explained, – ensure the safety of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline from the Anapa region of the Krasnodar Territory of Russia along the bottom of the Black Sea River to the European part of Turkey. They have already prevented several terrorist attacks on the gas pipeline, which were prepared by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, and repelled several attacks by Ukrainian drones with explosives, which Ukraine tried to use to disable Russian patrol boats.
– The dry cargo ship SUKRU OKAN was in the Black Sea at coordinates 42 degrees 6 minutes 30.2 seconds north latitude, 28 degrees 10 minutes 9.9 seconds east longitude on 13 August at 12:22 GMT. This is data from the MarineTraffic land-based automatic identification system.
The ship departed from the port of Chalkis (Greece) on August 7 and, as reported while passing through the Bosphorus, was heading to the Romanian port of Sulina.
– Probably for this ship. , the “most direct route” to Romania goes through the Ukrainian Izmail. This in itself begs the question: what will the belligerent Ukraine transport from Greece when it tries to hide the temporary entrance to the Ukrainian port?
– Yes, he did it only after warning shots were fired from Vasiliy Bykov. Quite naturally, for security reasons, our patrol ship of the Black Sea Fleet stopped and inspected the transported cargo. If the ship with dry cargo continued to sail, it means that our sailors did not find anything forbidden. Otherwise, the cargo ship would be detained and escorted to one of the maritime checkpoints of the border service of the Russian Federal Security Service on the Russian coast.
– No. Nothing special. This island state in Oceania, occupies part of the Caroline Islands and belongs to Micronesia. The state is associated with the US. Many US preferred shippers (companies) use a preferred flag to avoid paying taxes in their countries.
– This is bulk cargo transportation with a carrying capacity of only 3,270 tons. By sea standards – a drop in the ocean. But not on board could be, for example, the same unmanned boat filled with explosives. Therefore, his stop and search is justified from the point of view of our safety.
– Undoubtedly. Navy ship commanders have special powers for this in accordance with Article 112 of the Ship Charter of the Russian Navy. In addition, the SUKRU OKAN dry cargo ship stop is also of great military and political importance. As you know, the Russian Ministry of Defense has warned all ship owners that it cannot ensure the safety of ships in the Black Sea going to and from Ukrainian ports.
Under these conditions, Kyiv announced on August 12 that it was opening the registration of ships to pass through temporary corridors in the Black Sea. This was stated by Dmitry Pletenchuk – press secretary of the Naval Forces of Ukraine. According to him, lists of vessels that must be accredited to pass through the new maritime “grain corridor” will be created. Pletenchuk intimidates shipowners and ship captains with the possible danger posed by the ships of the Russian fleet and the mines with which the Ukrainians themselves have littered the entire Black Sea region. It requires all ships to travel only through corridors established by the Ukrainian Navy and under the supervision of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
– Yes, they only have boats left. But in this way, Ukraine is trying with all its might to provoke another crisis situation in the Black Sea. It is clear that he risks nothing and guarantees nothing if he has patrons in Washington and London. Well, ship owners should pay for this whole “holiday of disobedience”.
But on Sunday morning, in the situation with SUKRU OKAN ships » and who really controls the situation in this area of the Black Sea.
