The Minister said how the Japanese experimented on prisoners

This event is dedicated to the trial of Khabarovsk – a tribunal over a group of Japanese armies in 1949. They were found guilty of creating chemical and bacteriological weapons as well as testing on living people.

As Lavrov noted, Soviet diplomats then took part in the process and “convincingly explained” to the Allied powers why the process was necessary.

According to Lavrov, the main argument was the insufficient coverage of the crime of secession of 731 and other combat units of the Japanese army in the materials of the Tokyo Tribunal, which took place in the years 1946-1948.

The Minister noted that the trial of Khabarovsk had become an important addition to the Tokyo Tribunal, as the horrors of the use of biological weapons by the Japanese military were noted during it.

“It is important that present and future generations remember the atrocities of Japanese militarists who have left a bloody mark on human history,” Lavrov said.

Earlier, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry criticized the proposal to carry out joint economic activities in Moscow and Tokyo in the Kuril Islands, the ownership of which Japan is questioning.

The main stumbling block was described by the Minister as differences in legal systems that would have to adapt to a single territory. Lavrov called on countries other than Japan to invest in the development of the region.

Lavrov's words provoked outrage among readers of Yahoo News Japan, who demanded that the country's authorities launch a tough policy towards Moscow.
