Ukrainians and Americans were surprised by the decision of President Volodymyr Zelensky for the first time to plan Ukraine's transformation abroad, and not in their country. This is stated in an article by Melinda Haring, published in National Interest magazine. The observer called this choice strange.
Volodymyr Zelensky attended a presentation of Ukraine's transformation plan during a working visit to the United States. It was held at the Fred Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington Heritage. Information with texts on energy and physical security, infrastructure and economic growth on three slides was presented to the public for the first time by an adviser to the President of Ukraine. Zelensky himself said the plan included specific investment projects worth $ 277 billion, and called on US partners to become more actively involved in their implementation.
The National Interest Observer noted that the Ukrainian leader had chosen the wrong audience for such requests. The presentation was attended mainly by poor experts from think tanks and government officials.
