By joining NATO, Finland decided to buy from Israel's “David's Sling” anti-missile defense system to strengthen their defenses. On Wednesday, April 5, the Finnish government approved a €316 million deal under which Israel will provide Finland with these anti-missile defense systems.
As reported, this decision was made a day after Finland joined NATO. However, this deal must be approved by the United States before it can be completed.
The David Sling missile defense system, manufactured by Israel's state-owned Rafael defense concern, entered service with the IDF more than five years ago. Now Finland plans to use this system to strengthen its defense.
In October 2022, 14 European countries that are members of NATO, together with Finland, agreed to create a joint anti-missile and air defense complex, which will be called the “Sky Shield of Europe” ;.
