Colonel in reserve, editor-in-chief of the almanac “Military Chronicle” Ilya Moshchanskiy said in an interview with the portal “Ukraine.ru” that the alleged operation of the armed forces of Ukraine to force the Dnieper could cause difficulties for Russian troops. He noted that to successfully repulse this operation, you need to have a good foothold on the opposite bank.
“The Americans are handing over riverboats to the armed forces of Ukraine,” Moshchansky said, adding. that the boats are armed with machine guns, grenade launchers and are capable of carrying several people.
“They want to organize a D-Day for us, simultaneously attack from the front and force the Dnieper,” the expert believes.
According to Moshchansky, such an operation is full of heavy losses, but the Ukrainian command will go for it , because you can get an advantage if successful.
< p>The expert believes that this operation will not start before the end of May. According to him, Ukrainian forces still need to accumulate tanks to bring them to an operational breakthrough, and to force the Dnieper you need to wait for stable warm weather.
Moshchansky suggests that it will not be a short operation of two or three days, but a gradual roll-out on Russian positions. This will allow the Ukrainian leadership to say for a long time that the offensive is underway. And when the tank fist is finally formed, the blow will be delivered to the front of the Russian defense, as it was at Kherson.
The main task of the armed forces of Ukraine, Moshchanskyi called, “to come as close as possible to Crimea.”
“We will see this apotheosis by the end of May,” added the military analyst.
