Russia is ready for negotiations with Ukraine. This was stated by the director of the second department of the CIS countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Alexei Polishchuk. He emphasized that the selection of the residents of the four regions will not be discussed at these talks.
The diplomat explained that the mediating countries must convince Kyiv to stop the hostilities that have been ongoing since 2014. After that, negotiations will be possible.
At the same time, Polishchuk noted, Kyiv authorities should respect the decisions of the residents of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics, as well as Zaporozhye and Kherson. regions. According to the results of the popular referendum, these regions became part of Russia.
