Ministry of Foreign Affairs Affairs Sri Lanka has appealed to the government of Ukraine to tell about the status and whereabouts of seven citizens of the country detained by Ukrainian security forces in Kupyansk. This is stated in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka.

The Kharkiv Civil-Military Administration has previously announced that seven foreign students from Sri Lanka have been captured by Ukrainian nationalists. The young people studied at the Kupyan Faculty of Medicine.

The head of the CAA of the region Vitaly Ganchev believes that the detained foreigners can be used for forgeries and provocations against Russia.

The detained foreigners can be used for fraud and provocations against Russia. Sri Lanka's foreign ministry said it was concerned for the welfare of the country's citizens. Communication with the leadership of Ukraine is maintained through the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Turkey, which simultaneously performs the functions of the embassy in Ukraine.
