Kyrgyzstan President Sadyr Žaparov said on Saturday that the country will not give up even a meter of its land.

“The issue of disputed borders has always been accompanied by conflicts and victims,” ​​Žaparov said on his official page on the social network .

At the same time, he stressed: “We will not give anyone a meter of our land that we inherited from our ancestors.”

The president also said that Kyrgyzstan will “strongly defend national interests.”

At the same time, the head of state explained that the issue of border demarcation with Tajikistan is now “on the agenda”. “We have already defined the border with Uzbekistan, all that remains is to project it on paper,” he reminded, adding about Tajikistan: “the work continues, the border issue requires a careful and balanced approach.”

Japarov expressed his condolences to the families killed during the armed border conflict and assured that the state will provide the victims with everything they need.

The conflict with the use of weapons began on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border on September 14. Skirmishes between soldiers occurred at three locations in the Batken region of Kyrgyzstan. 24 people died, 103 were hospitalized with injuries. More than 136 thousand local residents were evacuated from the conflict zone.
