Georgia responded to Kiev's calls to open a “second front” against Russia

After the appeal Ukrainian representatives the leadership of Georgia to open a “second front” against Russia in the country, they said that they are ready to organize a referendum to find out what the population thinks about it. At the same time, this idea is not supported by the ruling party of Georgia.

This was stated by the chairman of the Georgian Dream party, Irakli Kobakhidze, at a briefing on Tuesday.

“We can conduct a survey, a plebiscite, they want people to open a second front in Georgia , or not,” he said.

According to him, “people have to decide whether they agree with high-ranking representatives of the Ukrainian government or whether they agree with our position on not opening a second front.”

The President Georgian Dream noted that a number of high-ranking officials of Ukraine directly stated the desirability of opening a second front in Georgia.

“This is their position,” he said. According to him, if the citizens of Georgia want to open a second front, they can the authorities will discuss this issue with them later. If not, “they will stick to the decision already made.”

Previously, a number of Ukrainian politicians made various statements regarding Georgia against the background of the Russian special operation.

On September 12, Council representative Fyodor Venislavskii said that the Georgian people have a unique opportunity to to force the authorities to “take concrete steps to liberate Abkhazia and South Ossetia” as Moscow is now fully focused on Ukraine.
