The UK authorities intend to remove China General Nuclear (CGN) from national nuclear projects. The government identified a threat to national security in agreements to build nuclear power plants signed with the company six years ago, writes The Guardian.
The United Kingdom is looking for ways to ban the construction of CGN under the agreements signed in 2015 for a nuclear power plant off the coast of English County Suffolk and County Essex. The total cost of projects at risk of blocking exceeds $ 27 billion.
The UK Department for Trade, Energy and Industrial Strategy has said that nuclear energy plays an important role as the country seeks to make zero contribution to global climate change by 2050. However, all nuclear projects must meet national security requirements.
It should be noted that refusing to cooperate could increase tensions between the United Kingdom and China.
