Former Channel One Editor Marina Ovsyannikova was announced as a guest of a press conference in Kiev, which is scheduled for June 1. The announcement was published on the website of the Ukrainian edition of the Interfax agency. According to the announcement, the theme of the event is: “The revelation of Marina Ovsyannikova: how Russian propaganda works.” At the same time, according to their screenshots of correspondence with colleagues, the journalists perceived the visit of a former employee of the Russian channel ambiguously.

Journalist Kristina Berdinskikh thus expressed confusion over Ovsyannikov's plans at the press conference: Will he repent and cry in public? Tell me, how do Russians suffer from sanctions? He works successfully in the West. And why is she here? on the evening of March 14, when she broke into a live news broadcast with Ekaterina Andreeva with a pacifist poster. At the same time, she published a video message on the social network, in which she explained her position, stating that her father is Ukrainian and her mother Russia. The next day, a Moscow court fined her 30,000 rubles for the video. Sources also said that a resonant incident with the poster itself could form the basis of a criminal case. It soon became clear that the woman had left Russia and started working as a correspondent for the German newspaper Die Welt.
