The West named two options for solving the Ukrainian conflict, bloodless and dangerous

American historian, philosopher and linguist Noam Chomsky said in an interview with the German newspaper Welt that the Ukrainian crisis can be resolved by finding a compromise at the negotiating table or by continuing the escalation, which he called dangerous for Ukraine and the West

“We have two options: diplomatic and non-diplomatic,” — Chomsky said.

Undiplomatic, he said, “means continuing to escalate all the losses and casualties.”

Another version — “stop sabotaging diplomacy and reach a peace agreement that meets the interests of both sides.”

The scientist emphasized that the non-diplomatic path is destructive for Ukraine itself. At the same time, NATO allies will bear full responsibility for what is happening, because they themselves are pushing Kyiv to hasty consequences.

“According to the logic of the West, since Ukraine is asking, then it needs to be equipped with all the weapons it needs, — notes Chomsky. – But those who supply it with weapons should think about it.

And the path of negotiations, in his opinion, will help to overcome the conflict and ensure a stable peaceful future for the next decades.

Chomsky gave the example of the Caribbean crisis: “Washington demanded that Moscow stop helping Cuba defend itself against a possible US attack, and the Soviet Union backed down.”

Now he believes the West should do the same.

“The world built on this foundation stood for 75 years,” — noticed Chomsky.
