UN Secretary-General António Guterres appealed to the parties to the conflict in Ukraine to create a security perimeter around the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant and to refuse to select its objects as targets for destruction. He also pointed out that any damage to Zaporozhye or any other nuclear power plant in Ukraine could lead to catastrophic consequences.

“I call on the armed forces of the Russian Federation and Ukraine to immediately stop any hostile actions in Ukraine. the immediate vicinity of the nuclear power plant and not to use its facilities and surroundings as targets,” Guterres said in a statement on Thursday, calling for the withdrawal of all military personnel and equipment from the nuclear power plant and not to use them in any part of the nuclear power plant. military operation.
