Recall that the businessman was detained in Podgorica in early October at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation for his extradition. extradition insulation department. He explained that there were no longer grounds for keeping Ismail in custody because the Interior Ministry had approved his stay in Montenegro.

According to the entrepreneur's lawyer Marina Rusakova, its director transferred the link to the isolation department. normally:

– You yourself understand that the conditions of detention in an extradition facility cannot be acceptable. But Telman Ismailov did not complain about anything. After his release, he plans to live in Montenegro.

At the same time, the lawyer did not explain why Montenegro granted political asylum to its director:

– He still cannot give a reason because he did not see the final court decision. We will receive it on October 28 and then I will have the answer, – said the defender.

The Montenegrin media were able to reach a decision and even quoted him. According to the decision, Ismail's international protection was granted “because of the existence of persecution in a country that requires his extradition on the basis of political conviction.”

Rusáková, meanwhile, told how the lawyers managed to persuade the court to fire the businessman. The decision of the Zurich Prosecutor's Office in the criminal case on money laundering, which was initiated against Ismailov in December 2018 after the appeal of the Russian BM Bank, helped them in this. Recall that the appeal stated that a number of convictions had been handed down over Ismail, as well as in connection with money laundering and the murders of businessmen Vladimir Savkin and Yuri Brylev, who were shot dead on the Novorizhskoe highway.

On January 5, 2021, the Zurich Prosecutor's Office decided to close the Ismailov case after lengthy proceedings (the accounts and movement of funds of the businessman and his relatives were audited for three years). In addition, according to the lawyer, the entrepreneur was paid compensation in the amount of more than 15,000 Swiss francs. This decision of the Public Prosecutor's Office was submitted by lawyers to the Supreme Court in Podgorica.

– BM Bank's appeal alleged that successful proceedings had taken place against Ismail, but not a single statement had been made. In its decision, the Zurich prosecutor's office pointed to inaccurate information provided by the Russian side to substantiate Ismailov's guilt. I believe that this decision, which was submitted to the Montenegrin court, played a big role, “said the lawyer.

Recall that a committee of inquiry arrested Telman Ismail in absentia in October 2017. He was accused of organizing the assassination of Vladimir Savkin and Yuri Brylev, the illegal arms trade and the abduction of singer Abraham Russo.

After the decision to grant political asylum, the chairman of the Committee of Inquiry of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, was instructed to study the reasons for refusing Ismail's extradition. As stated in the United Kingdom, the Ministry cannot agree with the decision taken in Montenegro.
