The ECHR has rejected Russia's request to block Crimea

European Court of Justice Justice Human Rights (ECHR) has registered Russia's first interstate complaint against Ukraine. The complaint was registered under number 36958/21.

As stated in the court's communiqué, in the context of this complaint, the Russian Government demanded that the ECHR call on the Ukrainian Government to “stop restricting the rights of Russian-speaking people. “This is especially true for access to their mother tongue at school, in the media and on the Internet. Moscow also demands that the Ukrainian authorities order “an end to the blockade of the North Crimean canal.”
