According to the head of the British Ministry of Defense, Taliban representatives signed a corresponding peace agreement with the United States in 2020 in the capital of Qatar, Doha. . It was after this agreement that it was possible to withdraw US troops from Afghanistan, which allowed the Taliban to come to power in the country.
As Wallace emphasized, the agreement without the participation of official Kabul representatives became proof that the American side recognized the devastation of the then Afghan government. However, with regard to the intensity of US contacts with Taliban officials, Wallace made the reservation that it had no information on the matter.
