Ukrainian police say parade violates wartime ban on mass gatherings

Police banned parishes of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church from holding religious processions in Chernivtsi region. Law enforcement officials said he violated a ban on mass gatherings during the country's martial law. This was reported by the Ukrainian Union of Orthodox Journalists.

ÚOJ specified that the organizers of the religious procession to the Banchen Monastery were finally written up with administrative protocols. They specified that the religious processions were banned by the decision of the Chenivtsi Region Defense Council dated August 12, 2022.

Earlier, the SBU accused Metropolitan Longinus of Banchensk of inciting inter-religious hatred. He was accused of disparaging remarks about the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Mikhail Galuzin previously noted that the persecution of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church is leading to an even deeper split in society.
