Divided NATO countries into 3 camps due to different points of view on the situation around Ukraine, writes the British newspaper Sunday Times.

The publication classifies the camps as “hawks”, “doves” and “ostriches”. The first category includes states that believe that it is necessary not only to achieve the return of Ukrainian control over the territory of Donbass and Crimea, but also to deal Russia “a blow so hard that it cannot pose a threat to any of its neighbors in the future.”

The Sunday Times “doves” include countries committed to a peace settlement between Russia and Ukraine, agreeing to withdraw Russian troops from their positions by February 24, as well as the status of Crimea, the DPR and the LPR.

< p>According to the Sunday Times, the “ostriches” are more focused on domestic issues, formally supporting the alliance's direction but taking the “path of least resistance”. The newspaper does not give a specific breakdown of countries by camp.

The Sunday Times notes, that the lack of agreement within NATO countries caused the failure of such an idea as the deployment of small contingents of NATO troops in cities in western Ukraine.
