President of Turkey Recep Erdogan he announced the ambassadors of ten countries and called on Ankara to release Osman Kavala, a persona non grata. He has already given such an order to the country's foreign ministry.
The list includes diplomats from the USA, Germany, France, Canada, Norway, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and New Zealand.
Erdogan has previously threatened to expel ambassadors from ten countries, including the United States, for calling for the release of human rights activist Osman Kavala. The Turkish Foreign Ministry has already summoned the ambassadors of these countries. There they were reminded of the need to abide by the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
Kavala is a well-known human rights activist in Turkey, the founder of the Anadolu Kültür AŞ Cultural Foundation. He is accused of participating in a coup attempt in July 2016.
