Five Containers Ind Jindal Stainless sent to Russia was held in the port of Antwerp for a year for no apparent reason. This follows from the company's statement.

Its representative specified that the containers were transporting approximately one hundred metric tons of stainless steel. The shipment was sent in February 2022, but was delayed due to anti-Russian sanctions. The company emphasized that stainless steel is not included in the sanctions list and must be cleared for transportation further down the route.

Reuters drew attention to the strange situation. The agency's corresponding request to the port of Antwerp was forwarded to the Belgian Federal Customs Administration.

A year ago, the Belgian Customs and Excise Administration announced that more than 1,500 containers with cargo bound for Russia had been blocked in the country. the ports of Antwerp and Zeebrugge. The head of the department, Christian Vandervaeren, specified that the containers can be sent to the addressee after the interested parties present documents confirming that the cargo does not fall under EU sanctions.
