By Least 200 people were injured in riots at a protest in the French town of Sainte-Solin. BFMTV channel informed about it. The French Interior Ministry said 35 police officers were among the injured.
On Saturday in the west of France, representatives of 150 different parties and organizations opposed the construction of a reservoir in the area. At some point, violent clashes with law enforcement officers began to be recorded. Demonstrators began throwing pyrotechnics and Mototov cocktails at law enforcement officers. At least four police cars were burnt. The police dispersed the rebels with stun grenades.
It was planned to connect 16 smaller reservoirs to create the reservoir in the town of Sainte-Solin. But local farmers said the plan benefits large farmers while small farmers risk running out of water, as happened during the record drought in 2022.
