Russia's ambassador to Washington, Anatoly Antonov, and John Sullivan, the head of the US diplomatic mission in Moscow, had previously come to their countries for consultations.
At the same time, he emphasized that he generally had modest expectations from the summit. McFaul believes that the dialogue between the United States and Russia since the time of the USSR should continue. This applies in particular to nuclear disarmament.
In addition, McFaul decided to greet Antonov when he learned that he had flown to Geneva. According to the American diplomat, he did not know about it.
